Waiver and Release of Liability

In consideration of being allowed to participate in the 2026 Dragon Boat Event (the “Event”) hosted at the Geraldton Yacht Club, I, the undersigned, acknowledge, appreciate, and agree to the following:

1. Assumption of Risk:
   I understand that participation in dragon boat racing involves inherent risks, including but not limited to the risks of injury, drowning, collisions, equipment failure, changing weather conditions, and physical exertion. I voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the event organizers, sponsors, or volunteers.

2. Medical Fitness:
   I certify that I am physically fit and capable of participating in the Event, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. I agree to inform the organizers of any pre-existing medical conditions that may affect my participation.

3. Release and Waiver:
   I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Geraldton Yacht Club, the Event organizers, sponsors, volunteers, officials, staff, or other participants (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages arising from my participation in the Event.

4. Indemnity:
   I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage, or cost incurred due to my participation, including any claims brought by third parties as a result of my actions during the Event.

5. Photography and Media Release:
   I grant permission to the Event organizers to use any photographs, video, or other media in which I appear for promotional and marketing purposes, without compensation or further approval.

6. Compliance with Rules:
   I agree to comply with all Event rules, instructions from officials, and safety guidelines. I understand that failure to do so may result in removal from the Event.

7. Minors:
   (For participants under 18 years of age) This waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. The undersigned parent/guardian acknowledges and accepts the terms of this waiver on behalf of the minor.
